Kickstarted PC prison game The Escapists is being published by none other than creators of the awesome Worms series, Team17. Team17 has a long storied history in the video games industry and have recently moved back into publishing, Light being the first new game in years to be published by them.
The Escapists on first glance looks like Prison Architect but where that game has you being the warden and ruler, The Escapists wants you to use your smarts to break free of those jail house blues. But Team17 doesn’t just scoop up a property, Managing Director Debbie Bestwick originally backed The Escapists while it was on Kickstarter, talk about but your money where your mouth is!
In The Escapists you need to be free and you can take any means necessary to accomplish your goal. First you’ll need to watch the clock, learning guard patterns and the prisons strict schedule. Then you’ll need to be sneaky and make some tools out of anything you can find. Next you’ll need to build a crew, one man is good but the right group can ensure success. And finally you’ll need to put that plan into action and dig your way to freedom!
But it’s not all about you and your crew, there’s other inmates also. What happens during a riot, will you be able to handle yourself, what about your crew, can you protect key members to ensure your success? There’s also nosy inmates who will try to expose your plan, you’ll have to deal with them the best way you see fit because there’s no stopping you or your crew now. The Escapists has already been Greenlit on Steam and look for it to show up later this year.

Team17 signs second 3rd-party publishing title
… reveals a new cellmate, The Escapists
Team17 has announced the second title making parole under its third-party publishing banner will be the indie prison break PC game, The Escapists, created by Mouldy Toof Studios.

The Escapists is a time management prison escape game that gives you the ‘freedom’ to live the life of a prison inmate, ultimately plotting and pulling off a daring escape!
To escape you’ll have to work around the strict prison schedule as best you can to avoid any unwanted attention from the guards. Craft weapons and tools from everyday objects you will find, or steal, around the prison but beware of cell shakedowns! All that stands between you and your freedom is a perfectly executed escape plan.
The Escapists was greenlit by Steam within just 96 hours of its application last year and is scheduled for release later in 2014.
