These boats aren’t This isn’t some bullet sponges or rather cannon sponges they’re fully destructible, with wood and metal shrapnel flying at your face while cannon balls wiz by.
If you get lonely on your own boat man up, grab your rapier and board the enemy ship! That team isn’t just a bunch of AI wannabe pirates either it will be you and your friends as Blackwake is multiplayer only built for team based warfare from the start. If battling other ship crews out on the open sea sounds boring what about giant sea monster PVE! It sounds like the best open sea naval game and they already support 40 players in the alpha so expect massive battles.
Even in the alpha stage Blackwater already has a seadogs other nemesis out on the open sea, unpredictable weather! Fighting during a crazy rainstorm with sea swells sounds awesome. Sadly there’s no mention of the losing team having to scrub the winning teams poop deck post-match but we can dream can’t we? Blackwater is currently on Kickstarter with 24 days left to go. The team is hoping to raise $34,000 AUD and have so far raised $5,000 AUD. Currently the early bird tier is still up at $17 AUD but if that sells out the game is the $22 AUD for PC via Steam.
