A behind the scenes look with the audio team of Guild Wars 2. You usually hear from the hype guy, the programmer or maybe the lead tester but I don’t think I’ve seen to many looks at the audio teams that work on video games. I would have thought sound design for games was more like film but right off the bat they let you know it’s like nothing else, which makes sense in hindsight. Everything is dynamic, so who knows where the player will be or is looking at when you want to trigger this bad ass sound. They do talk about layering sounds to distinguish your player depending on the armor, clothes and even shows you’ve selected. I don’t think I’ve heard about this level of detail before in a game, I hope something like this is added to Battlefield 3 so you can hear a distinct difference between something like Support and Assault sneaking up on you.
