So lemme get this straight, PSN is starting a new series called PLAY that will give you a free game once you buy 4 other qualifying games. Every time you buy a game while the PLAY promotion is going on you’ll get some DLC for the game you just bought. There’s only 4 games listed currently, Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, The Baconing, BloodRayne: Betrayal & Renegade Ops, so to get the free game you have to take what Sony is giving you. Also if you subscribe to Playstation Plus you’ll get 20% off each game as well.
The promotion is going to start August 9th and run until September 19th, Sony also says its going to be coming around annually. If you pre-order any game the Thursday before it’s release during the promotion you also get a different static theme per game. Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition PLAY buyers get to unlock GILL from the get go. Buying The Baconing during the promotion will net you an additional co-op character, Roesha – One Bad Mutha. If you love Playstation HOME you should order BloodRayne: Betrayal during PLAY to get yourself an in HOME virtual item. Finally Renegade Ops buyers will get a Vehicle & Character Pack featuring 2 new vehicles and special weapons.
PAYDAY: The Heist does not get itself any DLC or static themes during the promotion but it’s free once you shell out all that other money. If you just want PAYDAY: The Heist don’t worry as it’s just $19.99, at this time it’s unknown if this will get a separate Playstation Plus discount as it can only be pre-ordered a day after this promotion ends. If you were going to buy these games anyway this is a good score to your wallet and your gaming experience but I don’t think anyone is going to order 4 other games just to get 1 free one.
