WOW! Unless this is all a really big joke this is CRAZY BIG! A new entry in the classic Counter-Strike series. Counter-Strike still has ten’s of thousands of players playing everyday, 45,922 for vanilla and 44,938 for source at the time of this post according to Steam Game Stats. The only game that Steam tracks as beating them currently is Team Fortress 2. For a game that’s 11 years old, that’s some kind of staying power. I wonder what this new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will do to the community, will they embrace it or leave it?
The rumored features are classic maps like Dust2, Aztec, Inferno, etc, classic bullet penetrations, no ironsights, Molotov grenades along with competitive play features built in like ladder and ranked matches, 5v5 and of course dedicated servers. Hopefully this all is confirmed by ValVe soon with a nice big press release so we can speculate on more stuff!
