Looks like there is a bit of waffling over at Ubisoft about the PC release of From Dust. First it was just suppose to be a one time online activation, then that forum post was deleted, now it’s back but has a disclaimer that reads “*Details of the following post are being checked – expect a official statement shorty*” at the top.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun have the game installed via Steam and have confirmed that even Steam running in offline causes From Dust to tell you there’s an internet problem on every launch. On top of the DRM issue there’s mentions of a sloppy port with no PC settings like Anti-Aliasing, a 30fps cap and a tacked on window mode. It’s kind of sad really, nothing crushes a games chances of greatness like all this release week shenanigans.
