I have this CD-ROM version of Battleship for Win95/Win98 and it was exactly what you would expect, ships on a grid except with some CG cutscenes. This new Battleship (2012) has aliens and looks to be a first person shooter. I’m all for adding flavor to a game by switching it up but this is a totally unexpected direction. The most I would have thought Hasbro would let them go is a full real-time strategy game with ships versus aliens. The quote in the video leads me to believe there will be some strategy involved but it sounds light and the first person action looks to be the meat of the property. For a trailer that runs a minute we only get about sixteen seconds of action but take a look at the video below and maybe you guys can see something I don’t as right now it looks kinda like halo on the original Xbox to me. When we get more footage and info we’ll let you guys know how this one is evolving or devolving.
