Ghost Recon: Future Soldier PC Specs Listed, No Always On DRM, Hooray!

Well it looks like Ubisoft is really starting to make good on it’s catering to PC gamers statement and boy was it soon. First we had Rayman: Origins release DRM free on PC now we have Ghost Recon: Future Soldier releasing with a one time activation to a UPlay account and that’s it. No permanent online connection will be required except for multiplayer which makes sense unless they had added LAN play, so no internet, no multiplayer, brilliant. Onto the other information we have a release date set for June 15th 2012, about a month after consoles, DirectX 11 support with tessellation, volumetric fog, multi-monitor support, online widget, extended party functionality, party text chat, Uplay friends system and fully customizable controls. The only thing more I could hope for is Steam integration as that’s where all my friends are but really this is a great list of features and should really bring Ubisoft back into the fold with PC gamers. Some gamers may scoff at the month wait but this time it might be more forgivable since the PC version was on the outs for awhile with only a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release in sight. We’re glad Ubisoft made the decision to listen to PC gamers world wide who want to play Ghost Recon: Future Soldier on PC and keep the DRM to a minimum. Check out the rest of the press release below and see you on the battlefield in June!

Sorry, but, “so no internet, no multiplayer,” is far from brilliant. It’s idiotic.

Every PC game that has multiplayer should have true LAN support.

    Anything less is uncivilized!

It would be nice if more developers thought that way but it seems to take major events for them to realize that LAN support is still needed even in our “always connected” society. Just like how the PlayStation Network outage caused Naughty Dog to add LAN support to Uncharted 3. I think more often than not people forget that you are not always able to connect to the internet even if everyone would like to.
