Time To Give Back, Our Favorite Kickstarters 2012-09-16

There’s no doubt you’re here because you love video games and we love video games too.  We also love cool projects and most of all we love helping out where we can and want to spread the word. Here’s a small list of Kickstarter’s that we think deserve your attention, if you know of other’s drop us a line in the comment section below and we’ll add it to the next list and give you a shout-out for being awesome.

Dungeons and Dragons: A Documentary
I’m sure that this landscape of video gaming would be very, very different if Dungeons and Dragons had never come along, hell just think of all your favorite games loosing a Mage or sweet dual weiding Barbarian or hell come to think of it what in the hell would we do in RPG’s! The story behind D&D sounds fascinating and almost like a game of deception in and of itself. The cheapest option for getting a copy of the film as a digital download is $15 which isn’t too shabby.

Baghdad Community Hackerspace Workshops
My love of computers comes from growing up with those little science kits, using resistors, wire, springs, batteries and light bulbs to make cool stuff, including an crystal radio! Also it taught me how to say piezoelectric which is fun to say when your no matter if your 6 or 65 with no teeth. So why is the Baghdad Community Hackerspace Workshops awesome, it’s bringing people together to solve problems, learn, share their knowledge and make something better for themselves and their community. Problem solving is crucial in all walks of life and they are working with GEMSI to help spread their Think, Create, Share motto around the world. Be sure to check out their video, it should inspire you and I know if you love tech you know helping others who want to learn our craft is what we do best. The cheapest option to help is $9 but $29 helps them get more Arduino kits which are super cool and techy.

I DRAW COMICS Sketchbook & Reference Guide
I love to draw, I suck horribly at drawing but I still do it and you guys probably notice some weird animations in our show that looks like a 8 year old hopped up on Mountain Dew drew it, if so, that was me and yes I was hopped up on MD while doing it so there. Hopefully with the help is this little moleskinned beauty I’ll be able to get some better technique down for drawing something at a fourteen year old level but if not it’s sure going to be fun drawing half-shark half-man mecha-super-snipers. At the $25 level you get a copy of the book I don’t know why you wouldn’t donate less but maybe you like to spread your money around and that’s cool.

A Documentary About Extreme Championship Wrestling ECW
When I was a child I loved watching WWF All American Wrestling on Sunday mornings on USA, the show, the spectacle, the action, it was great for my young brain. By the time ECW came around I hadn’t watched wrestling in forever but people told me “you can bring weapons”, “they really bleed” and “you’ve got to see someone go through a table”. I started tapping the late airings on the Sunshine Network and when it came to town it was the most brutal thing I had ever seen in person. The fans really were fanatically about the product and yet they were some of the most welcoming group of people I had met at that time. This documentary sounds like it’s going to show the very human aspect that is mostly hidden behind the curtain of guys who really are chasing their dream with blood, sweat, tears and a whole lot more blood. At $30 you get a DVD and poster, it’s to bad the digital option isn’t cheaper as I’m sure a lot of people may just want a one and done option because like their tag line, it’s not for everyone.

BAPTISM BY FIRE: The Birth of Celluloid — A Documentary
Film, I love movies and what better way to explore that love than looking at the medium that’s brought it into our lives for over a hundred years. However that film that also brings us the moving pictures is also highly volatile and if it isn’t cared for and treated correctly it can lost, forever. While we are now in the digital age where it’s easy to back up our works numerous times with very little cost film was and still is a very costly medium to work with and keep around for a significant amount of time. I also love analog and have a crap load of material around me that I’ve tried to preserve digitally and it’s a pain just dealing with VHS! With $30 you get a DVD of the documentary, again it would be nice if there was a cheaper digital download option, especially in high def but it is what it is and this is one documentary i’m pulling for.

Pro Pinball®: Revived & Remastered
Pinball, the cornerstone of any good arcade, whether it’s Elvira, Jurassic Park, Star Wars or my favorite Haunted House (it has a hidden cellar, super rad). Pinball being translated to the digital age is hard, it just doesn’t have the same fell, doubt it ever will. However Pro Pinball has been one of the best digital pinball simulators to come out and the tables were full of endless fun. Now that Pro Pinball is making a comeback it looks to be shaping up better than ever also Silverball Studios had to work their asses off to get the rights back to their game, so I have to give them props right there. If you like your pinball on the go $10 gets you the newest Pro Pinball table on iOS or Android while $15 gets you your choice of platform (PC, Mac, iOS, XBLA, PS3, PS Vita, Linux and Android (includes OUYA and Kindle Fire)) and they just added downloads of their original tables for PC.
