If you are looking to head out into the galaxy looking for wondrous and amazing things than ready your space craft as Planet Explorers has crash landed on Steam Greenlight. It’s an open world, adventure, RPG, create-a-thon. Ok so we made that last word up but with the ability to change the terrain and create objects like weapons and vehicles we think it should be a word! With missions to run, npc’s to please, farming to do, town building to accomplish and suave diplomacy to keep you on your toes this game fills so many check boxes it’s crazy. Did we mention the team is also working on local, hosted and online co-op and versus mode! Planet Explorers on Steam Greenlight
MEMPHIS, Tenn (March 02, 2013) – Pathea Games has submitted Planet Explorers to Steam Greenlight in hopes that players will help the game become available on Steam at the end of the year. The page is available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=129199308 Planet Explorers is currently in the alpha stages of development. The alpha is at 0.52 and is free to play; it will offer players a chance to see what the world of Planet Explorers is about as well as give the developers some much needed feedback on the direction of the game. Planet Explorers is an open world voxel based adventure rpg game set on a distant planet. The game uses a new OpenCL system based on the Unity3D engine to allow players to change the terrain in anyway, create new objects in any form, and do it anywhere.
In Planet Explorers, it is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet. Some of the colonists survive in lifeboats, but what they find is an unforgiving land filled with creatures ready to outlast the visitors from Earth. Now the survivors must explorer, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, conquer the land.
The gameplay is in 3rd and 1st person perspectives. Players are be able to customize their character, combine and create swords, guns, and buildings. At the same time, players will have to defeat multitudes of enemies of varying intelligence and defend the remnants of the colonists. There will also be a mission system that features NPCs giving the player goals to achieve to advance the storyline. At the moment, Planet Explorers is a single player only experience. However, Pathea Games plans to include coop and multiplayer in future builds.
