Metro Last Light Might Melt Your PC, See If It Can Withstand The Light

Metro Last Light looks like it’s going to pack a punch graphically when it releases on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May 14 2013 for NA and May 17th 2013 for EU. If you have a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 you’ll just thrown Metro Last Light disc in your system of choice and be good to go, if you have PC you might have some doubts on if your rig can run the game. It seems that 4A Games took this to heart and while the screenshots and video have shown that Metro Last Light is a very detailed game it looks the game should also scale very very well. At a minimum you’re look at needing a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM and a Radeon 4000 or NVIDIA GTS 250 running Windows XP. We’re not sure how great the game will look or run but that’s a fairly low spec machine as of right now. The recommended specs are a 2.6Ghz Quad Core, 4GB of RAM and a Radeon 7870 or NVIDIA GTX 580/660 Ti running Windows Vista/7. Now this is what I think the average to above average PC gamer would have, which has its good and bad points. The good point is this is a fairly attainable setup for a PC gamer, the bad part is, I feel there are a lot of PC gamers running slightly lower specs and it would have been nice to see the game optimized further to lower these requirements. Both of the newer recommended video cards were released a little more than a year ago, the GTX 580 however is a better sign as it was released in 2010. Now the optimum setup well that’s just crazy talk, an NVIDIA Titan or GTX 690, come on 4A Games, why not just say, whatever you got, bring it, that’s what asking for the biggest and baddest $1000+ NVIDIA GPU says to me.

NVIDIA was nice enough to host a GPU Analyzer so it can check out your system, throw all your parts into its magical formula and tell you if you hit the minimum, recommended or optimum tier to run Metro Last Light. They’ll also suggest a few things you can do to make you experience better. When I ran it, I was presented with the suggestion to buy 3D glasses and a 3D 120Hz monitor. While I would take these suggestions with a grain of salt it might be good for a gamer with a lower tiered system to check up on some of the parts offered. You’re best bet would be to look around for deals on similar parts and not just buy direct to make sure you are getting the best deal but it’s a nice overview. If you want to see some Metro Last Light in action we’ve embedded a twelve minute playtrough that is hosted my Machinima so you can see just how good the game is looking. We would like to see everyone, not just 4A Games, start publishing recommended 720p and 1080p settings instead of just good, better, best generic titles.
