We finally get to see some screenshots from Tropico 5 and they look great! From the beaming tropical sun, to the misty rainy season even the massive turn of the century farm look splendid., though I personally wouldn’t want to work there. Kalypso tells us these are all new assets, El Presidente would not have any recycled goods, he only wants brand spanking new items to decorate his island now.
This latest entry, Tropico 5, starts you off in colonial times where you’ll have to change with the world to keep your island and it’s people moving forward as the years and centuries pass. That means making the right choices about what to do with your extended family, picking the best family member to be an ambassador is tough, you’ll also have to survive the World Wars, make it through the depression and somehow keep the your Dynasty alive along with serve your people or make your people serve you if you go the iron fist route.
Tropico 5 allows you to research technology, expand your island, find new and interesting things beyond the fog of war, amass a huge fleet of ships to trade and spread your rule to even more islands. Finally the big change there will be cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to four people! Finally not just one El Presidente but four, each with their own agenda, make deals, back stab your friends, secretly make friends and lure them in to watch it all burn, the choice is yours. As you move through your years in office you can promote members of your extended family on the island to positions of power: such as ambassador, commanding general or even Supreme Ruler, to ensure your legacy thrives through the eras. As your influence and wealth grows, so do the threats to your burgeoning island superpower.
