SNOW is a free to play, open world skiing and snowboarding game, like Ski or Die, for sure, radical dude, actually not so much. It’s made in the CryEngine so that means, sweet vistas, crazy mountain passes, white speckled forests and of course fresh powder. I think they really missed out with the ability to troll everyone with the trailer down below which should have been just a white screen after the logo.
Anyway my knowledge of snowboarding games extends from Ski or Die to the Cool Boarders franchise and that’s it but I definitely put some serious time into those games. SNOW on the other hand is more the feeling of real skiing and snowboarding with a giant mountain to carve. I get even indication SNOW is more like the Skate of skiing and snow boarding where Cool Boarders would would be the Tony Hawk. Even though it’s early access the game will eventually be going free to play however by paying now you’re helping fund development. To help get the game into a fully playable state there are three tiers $14.99, $29.99 and $59.99, and thankfully all three tiers get you access to the alpha. As usual the more you pay the more exclusive digital goodies you’ll receive as a thank you. Poppermost Productions Launches SNOW in Steam Early Access
The next generation of action sports games starts today. Freeskiing has never felt so real.
Stockholm, Sweden – Poppermost Productions today announced the launch of SNOW, the first truly authentic winter sports game, on Steam Early Access.
The 3-man team at Poppermost created SNOW to offer the most realistic skiing experience ever.

“With SNOW we wanted to provide players and winter sports enthusiasts with an authentic experience. Skiing is all about freedom, creativity and exploration, and SNOW delivers exactly that! We’ve removed all of the restrictions and clutter that we traditionally see in action sports games and with SNOW; allow players to approach the game the way they want”, said Alexander Bergendahl, CEO and Game Director at Poppermost Productions.
SNOW’s first mountain, Sialia, is a massive 8km2 of open-world, mountain terrain that has been entirely hand-crafted by the studio. Sialia is an ideal playground to explore and compete in thanks to its epic lines, massive cliffs and carefully designed terrain parks. Players can freely explore this vast and varied terrain or attempt to prove themselves by setting high scores on SNOW’s leaderboards.
Poppermost has collaborated closely with freeskiing icons Tanner Hall, Tom Wallisch, and Russ Henshaw to ensure that the authenticity of the sport was fully recreated in every aspect of the game.
“I am really excited to be part of building the first realistic ski game. From what I have seen already it’s the only game built by skiers for skiers!” said Russ Henshaw, Gold Medalist at the 2012 Winter Dew Tour Slopestyle Competition.
SNOW also offers a deep character customization system where players can equip their rider’s eleven different body areas with over 140 products from real life brands. Poppermost has also partnered with over a dozen of the biggest brands in winter sports to offer players the most popular products available from the most recent season. The team will update the contents of the catalogue continuously.
SNOW is powered by CryENGINE, which is known for its high production values and breathtaking graphics. “CryENGINE was a natural choice for us. About SNOW™
SNOW is currently available on Steam Early Access in an Alpha state and will move into Beta next year as a fully-featured free-to-play game. SNOW will then include additional content and features like snowboarding and online multiplayer.
Players who have purchased the Early Access version of SNOW will be rewarded with exclusive content when the game comes out in its free-to-play form next year.
