So we finally get a trailer for Evolve, the latest game from Turtle Rock Studios who made the epic co-op zombie blasting simulator Left 4 Dead. Only right away we are greeted with the Not Actual Gameplay, seriously WTF!
I get that what we’re seeing is one long ass cutscene but at some point, coudln’t we get a bit of in-game footage, even just a tease. Otherwise the trailer is awesome, there’s the cover of Danzig’s Mother by Lissie, a nod to Predator and a big giant alien thing that’s going to cause us to wet our pants when we finally play Evolve.
I guess the biggest problem is I had some high hopes for Evolve but after the instant pre-order bonus announcement and now this Not Actual Gameplay Trailer I’m getting soured on the whole Evolve experience. I know the gang over at Turtle Rock Studios wants to make the best game co-op game out there but show off some gameplay, even a tease would be great.
Thankfully Joystiq came through with some Evolve gameplay footage which you can see here. And you know what, it looks AWESOME! I know it’s not as polished or pristine as the promo trailer, nothing ever is, but it still looks like one damn fine hell of a co-op good time. The only thing I find funny is does the alien monster thing shoot fire from his nostrils and not his mouth? That’s the worst sinus infection ever! I’m glad Joystiq came through with some real gameplay footage of the game I will actually be playing. I just wish people putting together promo trailers would start to incorporate more gameplay footage so us gamer’s don’t have to hunt around to see what the game is going to look like and not some idealized what if fantasy.
