Microsoft says they’ve listened to what fans want and are finally delivering an Xbox One without Kinect at retail for $399, really big news ahead of E3 2014. This can mean a few things, Microsoft has some crazy shit saved up for E3, a leak was about to happen so Microsoft put it out there officially or this is the way things work going forward and E3 isn’t that big a deal anymore.
I’m hoping it’s the former, I want to see some crazy video gaming antics that will blow my mind and make me want an Xbox One. If this was put out to cut off a leak or if this is the way things are going forward it’s kind of sad. I love the big pomp and circumstance of E3, the lights, the glitz, the glamour it’s the Wrestlemania of Video Gaming. Everyone is excited, there’s unexpected announcements and E3 can be seen as a focal point gamers everywhere can rally around.
For hopefully with this move Microsoft can start pushing Xbox One’s in more force at retail which in turn should bring us better games. No one likes a one sided battle and if the dirt sheets are true Xbox One doesn’t seem to be lighting a fire at retail. I know the big boys at Microsoft seem to be focused on this entertainment thing but the Xbox brand should always put gamers first and hopefully they see that now with this Xbox One sans Kinect fiasco.
