Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark has revealed a new gameplay trailer onto the web. The game is set to be a companion to the Transformers: Age of Extinction film and the previous Transformers games War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. Seems like an awful lot of crossover action to pack into a single video game.
Hasbro and Activision is stacking this game with over 40 characters across the two universes, Earth and Cybertron so if you have a favorite Autobot or Decepticon it’s likely they’ll be represented here. The gameplay trailer seems to reveal little more than the previous teaser, it’s all fast cuts and limited angles. They do make the connection that Soundwave somehow called Bruticus into action, hopefully we’ll be able to play as classic Soundwave and his cool robot voice.
Actually I would pay for a whole Soundwave centric DLC pack that featured nothing but Soundwave Missions and him talking. With Bruticus in the game that means the Decepticons gain Swindle, Brawl, Onslaught, Vortex and Blast Off. Some of you may like them but can’t say they’re fan favorites I remember from the G1 series.
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is set to release on every relevant platform today, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Sadly they’ve done what we’ve come to expect now and made Thundercracker and Skywarp GameStop pre-order exclusives when it drops June 24th 2014. I have no doubt you’ll be able to buy them later as DLC. Also of note while the trailer and website show a PC logo the website fails to let you pick Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark as a platform. It’s also not listed on Steam as the previous games in the Transformers series were.
