Devolver Digital has partnered with Sony to publish some of their best games to the PlayStation brand but one such game that really stood out among the rest was Titan Souls. We already knew about Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Shadow Warrior, BroForce and Not A Hero but this Titan Souls game caught us off guard.
Originally conceived during Ludum Dare 28 Titan Souls drops you in a world with twenty giant Titans to take out however you have just a single arrow to do it with. No not an arrow for each Titan, ONE ARROW, that’s it. Of course this would be no fun after you vanquished the very first Titan but you can summon your arrow back to you after you fire it so all is not lost. Don’t think that means you’re on easy street though I expect Titan Souls to kick my ass with its precision and timing based combat, you should too.
For each Titan you will have to discover just how to hit their weak point, again timing and precision will be key, thoughts of memorizing 8-bit boss patterns are already starting to flood back into my brain. Titan Souls sounds like the perfect game to play on the go with my PS Vita and for the big screen treatment it’s also coming to PlayStation 4. You can check out the original version that the team at Acid Nerve made during Ludum Dare 28 for free right here to get an idea of what the completed version will be like. I’m always a sucker for pixel art and old school like challenges so I can’t wait. The finished version of Titan Souls will be released for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Q1 2015, no word on price.
