There’s been some rumors surround if Fortnite, the base building, defend yourself from the undead video game, is in-fact dead itself. Epic just put out a new gameplay trailer in stark contrast to such rumors. While I initially thought this was going to be a more realistic take on the defend yourself from the horde genre this is looking to be a more whimsical approach.
While the characters have looked cartoonish from the get-go it’s the jump pads scattered around that really through me off. This is definitely an interesting approach and after my initial disappointment I can say I’m kind of pleased with the result.
The other big reveal shown off in the gameplay trailer is who the player will interact with the world and build up their defenses. This looks as easy as ever, even something like putting a window into a wooden wall to give yourself a some nice cover to shoot from is a click away. The third person shooting looks satisfying and the fact that you can build traps a la the original Dungeon Keeper just add fuel to the Fortnite hype-train.
