Hello OUYA gamers! We just found out that the 17-BIT’s awesome turn based strategy game Skulls of the Shogun is dropping for the OUYA. I mean who doesn’t love Samurais, well except Billy but don’t listen to him he’s just mad that they’re cooler than him.
Skulls of the Shogun has been described as Advanced Wars supercharged with fighting game flare. Advanced Wars was pretty awesome, fighting games are awesome, sounds like a Resse’s Peanut Butter Cups combo in action to me. I’m also loving the graphics on Skulls of the Shogun, it’s that hand drawn stylized art crossover that I love.
The OUYA version includes both local and online co-op for up to four players at a time. Of course you can always just go full speed ahead in single player with 10-15 hours of content for you as well. Skulls of the Shogun is hitting the OUYA store on Oct 28th 2014 for $9.99. If you don’t have an OUYA you can also pick up the game on Steam so don’t feel left out! Which reminds me, I should really install and play it soon it’s been sitting in my Steam library since PAX East 2014.

PRESS RELEASE
Fight for your (After)Life: Skulls of the Shogun Coming to OUYA October 28
Rally an Army of the Undead and Defend your Honor Alone or With Friends in this Fast-Paced Turn-Based Strategy Game
SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Oct. 23, 2014 – OUYA today announced that following a successful mobile launch, Skulls of the Shogun will be available on OUYA on October 28. Players can take up arms as the tough-as-nails General Akamoto, a bone-faced commander who continues to fight even through the cold dark of death itself. Skulls of the Shogun features extensive single-player or multiplayer campaigns, and will be available on OUYA for $9.99.
Skulls of the Shogun combines classic arcade-style pick-up-and-play with turn-based strategy, and is optimized for tactical and adaptive play. The game lets players explore a number of vivid, high-res 2D environments where they can command stoic skeletal warriors, call upon mercurial animal spirit-monks for power and guidance, and consume the skulls of their enemies to gain fiendish new powers. As the saying goes, sticks and stones may break your bones, but wave after wave of heavily armed skeletons will pulverize your immortal soul.
Social gamers can face off against their friends on thirty different multiplayer maps, which can accommodate two, three, or four players simultaneously in local or online co-op. Players who prefer to go it alone can lone-wolf their way through a full 10-15 hours of bone-chilling single-player combat.
