After the uproar behind Double Fine’s Spacebase DF-9 halting development on Steam Early Access and moving to Steam proper while still woefully underdeveloped/unfinished the bright side to the game finally launching on Steam is previous supporters will be getting a copy of Hack ‘n’ Slash. Hopefully you don’t already own Hack ‘n’ Slash because then I guess you can just give that copy to a friend? There’s also some confusion as to if only gamers who bought Spacebase DF-9 directly from Steam will get a free copy of Hack ‘n’ Slash or if everyone who owns the game no matter where they purchased it will be getting the gifted copy. If true that would twist the knife even further and just anger even more early supports of the unfinished game.
Many gamers, us included, had high hopes for Spacebase DF-9 but it seems like now our hopes have shifted from Double Fine to the community to maybe pull off the game we had hoped Spacebase DF-9 would become. That seems to be the big “what if” behind Spacebase DF-9, the community is now left holding the pieces of the game, what if they make the game Double Fine set out to do and do they even want to? Spacebase DF-9 is currently on Steam for $12 until November 3rd 2014 or $14.99 with a copy of Hack ‘n’ Slash after that the price goes up to $20.01 and $24.99 respectively.
