Developer Team Cherry is currently working on Hollow Knight a game that looks like equal parts dream, nightmare and platformer. Hopefully this is what they are going for because I like these weird and wild platformers with their own artistic vision. In Hollow Knight you’ll be able to access something called a Dream Well and how do you access this lovely place with the Dream Nail, I like where this is going already.
So while there is an initial platforming overworld you’ll be able to use the Dream Nail to access the Dream Well of any of the games being minds allowing you to explore their dreams which have their own unique twists because once again their dreams. There’s also a bunch of other attacks, enemies, friends, foes and of course countless secrets. Hollow Knight is currently at about 50% of their $35,000 AUD goal on Kickstarter and $10 AUD gets a copy of the game on PC, Mac or Linux. Be sure to check them out, the animation alone looks amazing.

Dive into the mind of a bug in Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight!
December 2, 2014 – Adelaide, South Australia – Team Cherry unveils “Dream Diving” in Hollow Knight.
In Team Cherry’s upcoming game Hollow Knight, players can dive into the dreams of the strange bugs they meet and find bizarre new worlds full of danger and treasure.

Deep in the caverns of Hallownest, players can find bizarre artefact, the Dream Nail. With focus the blade can be used to slice through the conscious layer of a being’s mind and access the “Dream Well,” a deep space containing a bug’s hopes, fears and secrets. As they search for the core of the dream, terrible nightmares and unique challenges will test the player, but they’ll also uncover startling revelations and claim precious treasures that can’t be found anywhere else.
This mechanic adds a whole other layer to exploration in Hollow Knight, as players are able to enter the dreams of almost every character they meet. Dreams will fit the personality of each character and may even reveal some surprising secrets they have hidden away. These dreams will often involve unique twists on the Hollow Knight gameplay, such as challenging you to escape a horde of invincible flying nightmares or defeat a group of creatures without your nail. The Dream Nail is a mysterious weapon with hidden uses, and inquisitive players will find dreams hidden in the strangest of places.
Dream Diving opens up a whole new world for us as developers and for players as they journey into Hallownest. We’re really excited about this feature, as it will allow all kinds of fresh gameplay opportunities and add another rich layer of exploration to the world of Hallow Knight.
