Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective originally made it’s debut way back in 1991 when we though that FMV was going to be the future of video games. Sadly this did not happen, however the game went on to spawn three sequels and was released for FMV heavy weights like the Sega CD, TurboGrafx-CD, FM Towns, DOS, Apple Macintosh, DVD Video and the little known and under appreciated Commodore CDTV.
However in 2012 a new higher resolution version of the game was re-released for iPad, OS X and Windows which you can get on their website right here. But Zojoi is looking to spread Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective far and wide and to do that you need Steam. Currently Zojoi is looking for some Greenlight votes to get the game onto Steam where it can lead the charge in the FMV VR Revolution we so desperately need to happen in 2015. Zojoi, the team behind some of the most well-known adventure titles in classic gaming, announced today that its original series, Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, is now available on Steam Greenlight for Steam users to vote on. In 1991, Zojoi (then ICOM Simulations) partnered with board game company Sleuth Times to release Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective for PC, Mac and several other gaming systems. Considered groundbreaking by gamers and critics at the time due to its use of full-motion video (FMV) technology, the game featured the same intriguing storylines and brain-bending puzzles that have remained a staple of all Sherlock Holmes work since Doyle’s character first made his debut.
This re-mastered version of Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective for modern day gamers, is complete with recaptured full-screen video and high-resolution graphics.
