Popular Nintendo 3DS role-playing series Yo-Kai Watch already has multiple games released but until now there has been little movement outside of Japan. However Nintendo and Level-5 just revealed that Yo-Kai Watch is going to be headed to the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Korea. Considering they mention that the series has spawned a billion dollar industry inside Japan alone I’m guessing they want to see just how much money they can print.
Yo-Kai Watch sounds a bit similar to the Pokemon franchise, a boy befriends a Yo-Kai, which are not ghosts, monsters or creatures they are just Yo-kai, and with a special watch he can later summon them to fight other Yo-Kai and also help solve everyday problems for various characters along the way. The trailer above is from the original Japanese release of the game in 2013. So far there is no official release date and no word on if the manga or anime will also follow the game over.

YO-KAI WATCH is launching in the United States, Europe, Korea, Australia and also New Zealand, demonstrating its global demand and appeal. Beyond video games, manga and anime television shows, YO-KAI WATCH has generated more than $1 billion in retail sales of toys and other merchandise in Japan, not counting games, music or publishing.
