Who knew that in 2015 we would be seeing the spirit of Wipeout live on through Kickstarter! If you weren’t around for the explosion of the anti-gravity racing franchise during the PlayStation era hold onto your butts it’s about to come back around. Formula Fusion is the spiritual successor to the Wipeout series and you can see it in the vehicles, the logos, the track layouts and that music. Thankfully R8 Games has reached back out to CoLD SToRAGE and he has agreed to put his signature sound into this new game. Wipeout was the first game I can remember specifically seeking out the soundtrack for and being overjoyed that they had released an actual music CD, in stores!
R8 Games is shooting for Formula Fusion to have 7 tracks, split screen, online multiplayer, tech research and class progression, ten racing teams, new weapons, custom music option, skin editor, team builders and even integration with the ESL for some e-sports action. Since Formula Fusion is already funded on Kickstarter it will be coming to PC but there are also stretch goals for Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. I’m really curious to see how Formula Fusion is going to with the power of a beefy PC behind it to bring out all those graphics by The Designers Republic and artist Cenay Oekman. Right now they are at £41,990 or just shy of £7,000 past their initial goal with 15 days left and £20 will secure your copy of the game for PC or PlayStation 4. Are you ready to strap back in?

Ex-WipEout developers R8 Games are seeking funding for their upcoming title,Formula Fusion, on crowd-funding website Kickstarter. Working with the full track design team from the BAFTA award-winning WipEout 3 (Andrew Walker, Nick Phillips and Mat Garey) and developers from the likes of WipEout Pure,Carmeggedon, Auto Club Revolution, Grand Theft Auto and the Colin McRae series, along with the iconic The Designers Republic and Tim Wright aka CoLD SToRAGE, R8 Games hope to recapture the magic that was the first three WipEouts with a little extra on top!
Formula Fusion is a near-futuristic anti-gravity racing game in pre-production that combines fast, adrenline-fuelled racing with psychedelic visual effects and a hypnotic, thumping soundtrack. Featuring:
- 7 tracks across seven stunningly themed environments and one final battle arena, ‘Stadium’
- Single-player, local split-screen and synchronous online multiplayer PLUS competitive esports provided by world-leaders Electronic Sports League (ESL).
- Custom music, skin editor and team builders, plus more features to be confirmed
- Technological research, class progression and craft customisation
- Ten racing teams and their respective research institutes, each with team-specific upgrades and technologies.
- New weapon features, new game modes and meta games – including the anticipated ‘Ghost Zone’ – an ultra-fast abstract mode that renders the world as blurred lights, lines and psychedelic colours.
- Immersive soundtrack featuring Dub FX and CoLD SToRAGE.

A unique Event!
Ben Stanford, AKA DubFX, is entertaining gamers at a unique Gig!
On the 19th May at Teesside University we’re hosting an event to entertain our fans and show off the game prototype. We have DubFX, who is already providing music for the game, taking time from his UK tour to come to the university.
It’ll be a great night for all involved and a taste of what is to come from the game and the sound track. You should definitely come along and enjoy a night of good music, gaming and talking to the developers!
