KA-BLAM! That’s the sound of Everspace blowing up it’s Kickstarter goal of €225,000 with 7 days still on the clock. How far have they come? They are already past their first stretch goal of €275,000 and just a hyper jump away from their second goal of €325,000 with the campaign sitting at cool €311,190. The single-player rogue-like space shooter is like a sirens song to many up and coming Space Captains across the internet. The graphics are pretty damn slick but the physics shown off are out of this world, you can slice up asteroids, key word slice. There’s an animated gif from their Kickstarter page here that should blow your damn mind.
Everspace developer Rockfish Games is also quick to note that the game is not an 8,000 button by the numbers simulation game, this is a game built on the basis of fun first and formost. Being a rouge-like you need to prepare yourself that dying is par for the course and if you want to get better you need to get comfortable in that notion. However upon death in Everspace your new spaceship will be able to be upgraded further with better sensors, weapons, shields and more now at your disposal so think of each death as a reward to become a bigger, better and more ass-kicking space pheonix.
Everspace is also going the non-traditional route of most rouge-likes and including a non-linear story. If the gameplay is half as good as we imagine it is this story business might make it a contender for the game I never want to stop playing. Did we mention VR support, because there’s VR support where you’ll never have to leave cyberspace again. Our only wish is that this had some kind of co-op experience but sadly this bad ass amazing looking game is going to be a solo affair and really that’s the only tiny con I can think of, that and the fact that it’s not available right now damn it. You space cadets still have 7 more days to get in on some sweet sweet Kickstarter action with €20 getting you a copy of the game on release.
