Codemasters has started to give rally drivers a taste of it’s latest entry DiRT Rally by releasing the game onto Steam Early Access. Usually this can go one of a few ways, horribly broken, super broken but with amusing bugs, actual working pre-game with bugs that are patched and final game that just needs some tweaks. Right now it looks like DiRT Rally falls between the last two which is great because it’s how Steam Early Access should work. Do you want to know how good DiRT Rally can look, check out the footage above that was posted by a John Papadopoulos on YouTube, thanks to JohnDio on reddit for the heads up.
While we can’t predict the future like Zoltar Codemasters pushed out a patch for the game two days after Early Access release with some basic fixes. If they keep up a steady stream of updates that’s a good sign they are actively working with the gaming community to actually polish their game via the Early Access platform which is what we like to see. DiRT Rally has over 17 cars, 36 stages, team management, daily, weekly and month long challenges, rally seasons, custom events, car upgrades, car tuning, physics based assists and what I always love damage and repairs. DiRT Rally is up on Steam Early Access for $34.99 but if you pick it up before May 4th 2015 it’s only $31.49.

Monday April 27 (2pm UK) – Codemasters today invites gamers to join them on the road toward the future of the DiRT series with the release of DiRT Rallyon Steam Early Access http://store.steampowered.com/app/310560. Globally renowned for delivering realistic, yet fun, driving games, Codemasters is once more bringing its talent and experience to the world of rallying. With DiRT Rally, the team wanted to take off-road racing to a new level of realism, so tore up its previous pace notes and completely rebuilt the physical simulation and driving models to truly capture the feeling of each individual car as it hurtles along a variety of surfaces in different conditions.
Codemasters has captured the essence of what makes rally unique – that sense of trying to remain in control of your emotions, as you hurtle along dangerous, undulating roads at breakneck speed, aiming to squeeze everything out of your car whilst knowing that one crash could irreparably harm your stage time. It’s the ultimate test of a driver’s skill, and it’s the ultimate in high risk, high reward gameplay.
The community will be DiRT Rally’s co-driver and their feedback will help shape the evolution of the experience. For players joining DiRT Rally in Early Access and the road ahead, the team want their feedback. They’ll be helping to test theories and providing vital data that will help to refine DiRT Rally.
From the outset players purchasing DiRT Rally on Steam Early Access will get access to the following:
· 17 CARS OVER 6 NEW AND CLASSIC CLASSES – Including BMW M3 Evo; Audi Quattro S1; Lancia Delta HF Integrale and Subaru Impreza
