Well this is an interesting development, DC Universe Online is going free to play for PS3 and PC and will even be a free download for PS3 via PSN. They’ve broken up the game into 3 access levels so it’s not 100% free but it’s more free that what it was before! The break down is Free, Premium (spend $5 in the store) and Legendary (pay $14.95 a month). All players can purchase game packs, DLC, more character slots, more powers more inventory slots, more auction slots and more bank slots with micro transactions. All players will be able to access Gotham City, Metropolis, all current raids, all current alerts and can join leagues.
Free players are limited to 2 character slots, 28 inventory slots, 0 auction slots, 12 bank slots, cannot trade items or cash, have a 1500 max of in-game currency, only 6 text chat messages per 30 seconds, send only text mail and get one free vault ticket per week. Premium players get 6 character slots, 42 inventory slots, 5 auction slots, 24 bank slots, can only trade items, have a 2000 max of in-game currency, proximity voice chat along with 6 text chat messages per 30 seconds, can send text and items with mail and get one free vault ticket every 3 days. Finally legendary players get 16 character slots, 63 inventory slots, 20 auction slots, 48 bank slots, can send items, cash and text with mail, can have unlimited in-game currency, unlimited chat, one free vault ticket per day, can form leagues and access to the DLC expansion packs is included. If you stop being a Legendary Member you are downgraded to Premium and lose your DLC expansion packs that you did not buy.
