Of course this would happen, how could it not! Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 has come out and slammed its nuts hard into a steel rail before crumpling into a heap and landing in gamers laps. Why would Activision do this, is money everything, don’t answer that, we know that the Tony Hawk license was running out but come on, don’t leave gamers with the taste of shit in their mouth as you 900 one last time off into the sunset. The worst part now is the damage has already been done, even if the game can be fixed until everything is perfect who will care by then? Personally I would like to take a peak at what that patched game has to offer later, much, much later, but as word is getting around I’m sure I’m one of the very few. Looks like we’ll have to rely on the old standbys of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 for some instant fun, just pop the disc in and go.
This is pie in the sky type wishful thinking but I feel if this game did not attach itself to the main Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise and launched at a budget price of $40 gamers would be slightly more receptive to it. That’s not to say a budget game or any game for that matter should launch broken but a mainline game with a $60 price tag launching this buggy is the kiss of death for any game. If you want to see some unfiltered gameplay I suggest you check out Giant Bomb’s Quick Look here. Since it seems the game did not even go out to reviews prior to launch I expect a flood of scathing reviews as the week moves on; so far only a single Critic Review has shown up at 40 on Metacritic. What do you guys think, did you get burned, could you see the signs a mile away and luckily avoided this train wreck, do you even care about a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game at all?
